More depth.
Not more clutter.

Ten concept demos showing how Orbit could extend into a small calm productivity ecosystem — shared focus, ambient presence, daily rituals, cross-device continuity — without ever betraying the editorial, glassy, atrium-led language that already makes it Orbit. None of these screens are in the production prototype.

00 · The first open of the day

The morning brief, in the app.

Open Orbit for the first time on any given day and this is what greets you — a quiet editorial briefing of the day ahead. The anchor task surfaces with a gold wash, two quick wins sit beneath it, and a single energy check tunes the day's pacing. One gentle literary line, no metrics theatre.

03 · Soundscape mode

Solo focus is a soundscape.

Instead of a lonely timer, you choose a soundscape — a hand-tuned room with its own atmosphere, sound mix, suggested duration, and a quiet Spark facilitation. Nine soundscapes ship; each one is its own world. Tap any tile to select it. Tap Enter to step inside.

9:41·
Soundscape
Pick the room you'll work inside.
Each soundscape is an atmosphere, a layered sound mix, and a quiet ritual — designed for one. Spark will keep you company.
04 · Inside the soundscape

A real sound mix, not just background noise.

You're inside Rain Study. Rain falls. A grounding line drifts in. Spark breathes in the center. Tap the "Rain · soft mix" strip at the bottom — a sound mix sheet rises with five layered sounds (rain, thunder, wood roof, fire, wind), each with its own slider and on/off dot. Click a layer's dot to toggle it on; drag the slider to set its weight. Save your custom mix as your own.

"Hey, can you send me today's notes?"

Real life: Habee asks Lee for the meeting notes. Lee taps the Spark beside the composer, types "send Habee today's Crosswinds notes," and Ask AI surfaces the right note as a card embed. Tap to send. The card animates into the thread; Habee receives it and gets a Save to my workspace action. No file picker, no @mentions — the interaction is the work.

06 · Ask AI

Memory-aware, not chatbot.

Long-press the bottom Spark (or ⌘K on desktop) and a tall glass panel rises. Ask anything in plain English. The answer streams in, then surfaces action chips — Add all to today, Send to Habee, Save as note. It pulls from your notes, calendar, captures, and Circle materials. Tap "Start streaming" to watch the answer arrive.

04 · Shared focus

Body-doubling, without chat.

When the room is shared, every member's Spark drifts in the same atrium with their current task whispered beneath. Send an ember wave to nudge encouragement — that's the entire chat surface.

05 · Shared list

Co-founders, quietly.

Inside a Constellation, a shared list works like any Orbit list — with owner dots and ambient presence. No comments. No @mentions. When Maya finishes a shared task, an editorial line surfaces here. You can send a ✦ cheer, and that's all.

06 · The anchor cleared

Once a day, the room glows.

The most important task isn't celebrated like every task. When the day's anchor is cleared, the room blooms warmer for three seconds and a single editorial line drifts across. A quiet cheer from a Constellation member is the only social signal.

07 · Closing the day

Three soft prompts, a candle, and goodnight.

The evening close is the bookend to the morning brief. Three editorial prompts: what you carried, what's still open, one word for the day. The candle warms with each close — never numbered, never punishing absence.

08 · Spark remembers

The right thing, surfacing on its own.

Spark holds what you captured. When you're inside a note about a project or a person, Spark whispers a relevant memory — a thing you said earlier, a question you wanted to ask. On-device, never searched, never asked for.

Crosswinds review

Edited Thursday, May 7

Sat with the prototype this morning. The capture flow feels right — Spark is the obvious primary, the rest is calm.

Still not sure about the help-screen indicator placement. Dave had thoughts last week.

Need to finalize the empty-state copy on the Tasks view. Maya wrote "Today's clear. Capture something." — I like it.

Collaboration as a quiet canvas.

On iPad, Constellations spread out. A sidebar of trusted circles, a writing canvas with ambient presence (Maya is selecting a paragraph, Sarah's cursor blinks two lines down), and a small panel showing who else is working — and on what.

I keep coming back to whether the candle metaphor is too poetic. It's the difference between a streak and a feeling.

The desk view.

On desktop, Orbit becomes a three-column room. A narrow rail of workspaces and Constellations on the left, the day's anchor on the canvas, and a panel on the right for Spark's whisper and ambient presence. Still glass. Still ember. Still Fraunces.
